Located on the south side of Des Moines, IA, Mayalu Coffee offers a unique experience through it’s atmosphere and drink menu.

My friend Matt and I were flying out of the DSM airport, but our flight was delayed. We decided in the few hours we had, we would go get a coffee and some food. One of the last coffee shops I had yet to visit was Mayalu on Fluer. We walked over a mile from the airport to the coffee shop, but it was a beautiful day, so we enjoyed it.

The menu has all the basics, and is pretty affordable.

I ordered a cold brew with half and half. It was not overly sweet, highly caffeinated and smooth. Nice! I also got a Savory Sunrise Sandwich, and it really hit the spot. Matt and I hung out for a while on the couch until we needed to return to the airport for our new flight.

The decor is inspired by Nepal, and there is even a place to sit on the floor with your shoes off. It shares a building with a couple other businesses, so it may be harder to find.

I would definitely go back again!
